João de Deus – or John of God as he is affectionately known is unquestionably one of the world’s, if not the world’s most remarkable healer of our present time.

A very humble man, medium João is devoted to helping others. He was born in 1942 and has been healing thousands of people at the Casa for over thirty years.

In his own words: "It was not I who chose this mission of mine. It was God who entrusted it to me, and I will see it through to the end. I do not cure anyone; it is God who cures. He is the way and the truth, and everywhere for those who ask, this Supreme Being is present."

He began his life’s mission as a boy and has dedicated his life to healing the sick of mind, body and spirit.

He allows himself to be incorporated by "entities"- who were eminent and gifted doctors or surgeons etc. in their lifetime.

There are over thirty entities who work with João, however he is only capable of incorporating one entity at a time, although he can change entity at any time if the need arises.

When João is "in entity" or "incorporated" he is able to perform visible or invisible operations. The visible surgery requires no anaesthetic , there is no pain and very little bleeding. Each person has a choice if they want either visible or invisible operations. Most of the work however is invisible.

He can treat just about any illness or disease, which in these modern times we suffer from.

However, healing is very personal, what works for one person is not necessarily going to be the same for another, for some the healings take place immediately, whilst others notice it over a period of time. Sometimes it is necessary to go back for subsequent visits. João and the entities will advise regarding this.

We all have our own part to play too, and we are all on different levels on our spiritual path. Having been a healer myself for many years I understand this very clearly.

Healing can take place on the physical, mental, emotional and most certainly the spiritual and it is important that we do "our bit" to help the process.

So, time spent in quiet meditation or prayer at the Casa is essential, it is part of taking responsibility for our own well being.

You don't have to be sick to visit João: many go purely for the spiritual experience.

João himself is a very humble man, and holds no prejudices.

When asked about the amazing work he does he says: "It is not me who cures. God is the healer – I am simply the vessel."
